Grooming Terms & Conditions

Cancellation Policy and extra charges:

A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule any appointments. If there is a failure to turn up 100% of the groom will be payable and automatically charged to the card we have on file. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, Dog Store will take a 50% charge of the value of the grooming appointment. Bank details will be taken and stored securely upon booking. We reserve the right to refuse dogs and charge 50% of the appointment price if they attend the appointment with fleas, severe matting or behavioural issues. We are also unable to accept dogs that are in season. If the customer is more than 15 minutes late for their dog’s groom we will need to cancel the appointment and the 50% charge will apply. If the customer is 30 minutes late to collect their dog after the agreed pick up time, there will be a charge of £10 per 15 minutes thereafter. Due to limited spaces for multiple dogs, the subsequent appointments would be affected by the lateness. We reserve the right to request full payment upon booking if the customer has failed to turn up previously.

Grooming:

No dog will be subjected to stress or discomfort and all dogs will be groomed in accordance with The Animal Welfare Act 2007. No information supplied will be shared with any third parties, unless it is deemed by the groomer that the dog is suffering from any form of neglect and the relevant action will then be taken. The groom will be carried out in accordance with instructions as requested by the owner. Whilst every effort will be made to comply with this, the results may not always be as the owner visualised. This may be due to a variety of factors, such as matting, condition of the coat, temperament of the dog etc. In the event of this situation arising, we will endeavour to inform the owner as soon as possible. Please ensure your dog has had an adequate chance to relieve itself before you come to the spa. If your dog toilets during the grooming process and requires a second bath you will be charged appropriately. Invasive procedures such as ear plucking and anal gland expression are deemed to be “veterinary procedures” and therefore under the Veterinary Surgeons Act, Dog Groomers are not trained in these services and we will not complete them.

Matted Dogs

In the event of a dog needing a shave /clip down, the owner should be aware that irritation may occur from this process, as well as uncovering nicks, cuts, skin complaints, or any other problems, including itchiness, redness, irritation. The owner agrees the groomer will not be held liable for grooming effects of matt clipping procedures on neglected/matted coats. You will also be responsible for payment of extra time for de–matting your dog if it is required.

Fleas

This is a flea free store and spa, please treat your dog at home if you are aware of fleas.  If fleas are detected before the groom begins, we reserve the right to refuse custom at that point. Should the Groomer discover fleas during the groom, we will have no option but to bath your dog immediately in a suitable shampoo. A minimum charge of £20 will be added to your bill to cover the additional shampoo, conditioner, water, electricity, time and inconvenience. After all the dogs have left the salon we have to fumigate the entire Spa and Store and every dog that follows your dog through the salon will have to be treated as though it is infested too. If fleas are discovered we will contact the entirety of the day’s bookings so everyone is aware that a dog with fleas has attended. If you wish to rearrange upon hearing this, you will not be charged.
